Chemistry Course Permit Request Form

Registration Restrictions

Post-baccalaureate and non-degree seeking students will be restricted from registering for most sections high demand** Chemistry courses until after first degree seeking students have had the opportunity to register. These restrictions will be removed starting November 18, 2022. Once these restrictions are removed, post-bacc students will be able to register for open seats in these courses provided all appropriate major and/or pre-requisite permits are in place.

Please Note: Restrictions are removed manually; therefore, it may take up to 2 business days for this process to be completed.

Please do not submit permit requests because courses are full.

**High Demand Chemistry courses include: CHM 2045/L, CHM 2046/L, CHM 2210/L, CHM 2211/L, and BCH 3053**

Additional courses may be restricted based on major or class level at the discretion of the Department. These additional restrictions would not be limited to post-bac or non-degree seeking students.

Select the course(s) for which you are requesting a permit (Select checkbox for each permit request & semester requested). Please ONLY choose courses for which you are eligible. Prerequisites are STRICTLY enforced - which must be passed with a C or better. If you are taking, or have taken, the listed pre-requisite(s) or co-requisite(s) at USF, and are majoring in the Departments of Chemistry or Biology, you should not need a permit . However, if you receive an error when attempting to register for a Chemistry course, please submit a permit request.

By selecting the box below, you confirm your understanding of the Department of Chemistry course permit process, including:

  • Permits allow the student to register for the course (if open). Permits do not register the student - it is the student's responsibility to register for desired courses after receiving the permit. A permit does not obligate the student to take the course.
  • Students should use OASIS as their confirmation - the permit will appear on OASIS.
  • Requests will be processed in the order received. Processing time will be longer if course evaluations need to be completed first. Do NOT submit a permit until course evaluations are completed!
  • Requests for permits are NOT processed after hours, or on weekends.
  • Permits do not guarantee a seat in the course.
  • Errors can occur on OASIS. The Department of Chemistry is not responsible for activity on OASIS.

Requests will be processed within 2 working days, except during high-volume times. High volume times include: the week prior to school starting, the first two weeks of school, and the first month of registration. Requests for permits are NOT processed after hours or on weekends.

Confirmation of student understanding. Selection of this box is REQUIRED for receiving a permit.

I will be attaching documentation of completion of pre-requisites to this form.

Please complete if you have additional comments about your permit request.
