Title: Statistics of local level spacings in single- and many-body quantum chaos Speaker: Roman Riser, University of Haifa, Israel Time: 3:00pm–4:00pm Place: CMC 130 Sponsor: S. Lee
In the introduction we review spacing distributions with emphasis on random matrix ensembles. Then we define the meaning of local spacings and discuss its statistics and distribution. They can be interpreted in terms of the inspection paradox in probability theory. We will identify universal sequences of local spacings and demonstrate how they can reveal symmetries in physical systems as well as if a quantum system has integrable or chaotic underlying classical dynamics.
