Title: Invariant differential operators on algebraic varieties Speaker: Vyacheslav Futorny, SUSTech International Center for Mathematics, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China Time: 2:00pm–3:00pm Place: CMC 130 Sponsor: M. Elhamdadi
We will discuss the state of the art of the theory of differential operators on algebraic varieties. In particular, the Noncommutative Noether's problem for the Weyl algebra will be considered.
Title: Cryptography based on supersingular isogenies Speaker: Kirsten Eisenträger, Penn State University Time: 3:00pm–4:00pm Place: CMC 147 Sponsor: J. Biasse
Cryptosystems based on supersingular isogenies are one viable option for use in post-quantum cryptography. These systems rely on the hardness of computing isogenies between elliptic curves. In this talk we discuss the graph theoretic interpretation of this problem and also the equivalent problem of computing endomorphism rings. We give some advantages and disadvantages for using these systems for cryptography and examine how secure they are.
